5 Simple Ways To Simplify Your Life

-

Welcome to September’s post. This is the month of transitions. The kids are heading back to school, adjusting to new routines, new careers, etc.

In this post, we’ll discuss simplifying your life.

We’ve all dealt with those moments when we’re stressed and unable to find a second of peace. So, maybe it’s time for us to simplify your lives. When you feel overwhelmed, bring it down a notch and make some changes to simplify your life. You’ll see your stress levels quickly decrease, making your life more enjoyable.

Often, frustration occurs when we think everything in our lives is equally important. However, we can assess those things to determine what really matters. Let’s find out how we can gain some perspective on our lives with the following tips.

1. Determine what is important. Grab a pen and paper or use your smartphone to list all activities. Look at the first three or four, now ask yourself, am I spending enough time and energy into these things? If not, start now. The first three or four things on your list are generally family, relationship, and work; as these are the focal points of our lives. Your list will make it clear, as you’ll see where your time is being spent and where you can improve.

2. Reexamine your obligations.  Often, we over-commit ourselves. Look at the “add-ons” in your life, line them up with what’s important to you. Consider axing those meaningless things you do. Ease some stress by eliminating those commitments that are tying you down.

3. Just say no.  Often, when we’ve experienced stress, it’s because we lack the ability to say no to those in our lives. I know it’s difficult to say no to your kids, family, friends, even at your job; now is the time to do it. Delegate those requests to people more capable, or say no with precision. Remember, you’re not superhuman, so stand firm and just say no.

4. Streamline your work.  During these unprecedented times, many of us are working from home. While working from home has its own challenges, it’s important to understand that there are some things that aren’t worth your time and energy and some you’ll never get around to. Focus on the facts and review your tasks, keep the essentials and get rid of the rest.

5. Get Clutter-Free. Many of us fill our home and work environments with clutter. These are things that take up unnecessary space. It’s imperative for everything to have its place, as this will help to improve your time management, eliminate procrastination, and reduces stress, which simplifies your life.

As we journey through September, remember, simplifying your life involves some planning and taking action. It does not have to be difficult, get back to the basics, get rid of the “extras” and you’ll have a more stress-free and simplified life.

How will you simplify your life? We would love to hear from you, leave us a comment below.
