5 Simple Ways To Simplify Your Life

0

Welcome to September’s post. This is the month of transitions. The kids are heading back to school, adjusting to new routines, new careers, etc.

In this post, we’ll discuss simplifying your life.

We’ve all dealt with those moments when we’re stressed and unable to find a second of peace. So, maybe it’s time for us to simplify your lives. When you feel overwhelmed, bring it down a notch and make some changes to simplify your life. You’ll see your stress levels quickly decrease, making your life more enjoyable.

Often, frustration occurs when we think everything in our lives is equally important. However, we can assess those things to determine what really matters. Let’s find out how we can gain some perspective on our lives with the following tips.

1. Determine what is important. Grab a pen and paper or use your smartphone to list all activities. Look at the first three or four, now ask yourself, am I spending enough time and energy into these things? If not, start now. The first three or four things on your list are generally family, relationship, and work; as these are the focal points of our lives. Your list will make it clear, as you’ll see where your time is being spent and where you can improve.

2. Reexamine your obligations.  Often, we over-commit ourselves. Look at the “add-ons” in your life, line them up with what’s important to you. Consider axing those meaningless things you do. Ease some stress by eliminating those commitments that are tying you down.

3. Just say no.  Often, when we’ve experienced stress, it’s because we lack the ability to say no to those in our lives. I know it’s difficult to say no to your kids, family, friends, even at your job; now is the time to do it. Delegate those requests to people more capable, or say no with precision. Remember, you’re not superhuman, so stand firm and just say no.

4. Streamline your work.  During these unprecedented times, many of us are working from home. While working from home has its own challenges, it’s important to understand that there are some things that aren’t worth your time and energy and some you’ll never get around to. Focus on the facts and review your tasks, keep the essentials and get rid of the rest.

5. Get Clutter-Free. Many of us fill our home and work environments with clutter. These are things that take up unnecessary space. It’s imperative for everything to have its place, as this will help to improve your time management, eliminate procrastination, and reduces stress, which simplifies your life.

As we journey through September, remember, simplifying your life involves some planning and taking action. It does not have to be difficult, get back to the basics, get rid of the “extras” and you’ll have a more stress-free and simplified life.

How will you simplify your life? We would love to hear from you, leave us a comment below.

Focus And Discipline Are What You Need To Achieve Your Goals

Introduction

As we conclude February, let’s continue to dig into accomplishing those goals we set in January. I know it’s challenging, but don’t give up, keep grinding.

Some believe the secret to success is setting small goals. I believe one key to success is setting big goals. Why? Big goals, help you expand your mind and step out of your comfort zone. However, it is challenging. But don’t get discouraged, develop your focus and discipline, and it will become much easier. Regardless of how far-reaching your goals are, focus and discipline will help you achieve those goals.

What is Focus

It’s your ability to concentrate on one task at a time. It cuts distractions and helps you make headway on what’s important. Focus provides a sense of clarity and purpose. So, how do you get better at focusing? Start with writing them down. The key here is to limit yourself to at least 3 tasks you’d like to work on today.

What is Discipline

Many of us love comfort. But discipline allows you to get things done; even in unwelcomed times. Discipline also helps cut distractions, however, you can’t improve without practice. So, how do you go about this? Simple, your day should end only after you’ve completed those three important tasks that gave you focus.

Why are both important?

While there are countless success skills we can benefit from, let’s concentrate on these two together. Discipline is your ability to work on a task repeatedly. Focus allows you to stay on course and both help to eliminate distractions. For example, let’s say you’d like to climb to the highest point of New York State. With discipline, you’ll walk the trails, even when you’re exhausted. Focus will ensure you decide on the best route to reach the top of that mountain. If you lack focus, you could end up wandering around aimlessly. Without discipline, you’re unable to take those challenging steps forward and last through the journey of setbacks along the way to the top of that mountain.

Conclusion:

We all deal with challenges. However, we can develop success traits to help us through tough times. So, start setting those big goals and use your focus to eliminate distractions, increase your clarity, and move forward with purpose. Use your discipline to power through the challenges with grit and determination to achieve those goals.

7 Tips You Need To Finally Take Charge of Your Life

0

Many of us want to become better versions of ourselves, but refuse to take action. It’s easy to want better, who doesn’t? The problem lies in what you do with your life and how you’re going to control it. You’re never going to be in control when you’re always held back by fear and a lack of responsibility. The worst way to live is as if you’re just watching your life go by without taking charge. However, it isn’t too late to have the life you want. In this article, we’ll talk about 7 tips you need to take charge of your life.

1. Take Responsibility

To achieve success, it’s vital to take full responsibility for your life. By refusing to take responsibility, you’ve left yourself open to others to control the direction of your life. For instance, you got fired because of your tardiness. You’re avoiding responsibility, If you constantly put the blame on how hard life is and on your company, you’re avoiding confronting the consequences of your actions.

2. Improve Your Standards

While it’s okay to have mediocre standards, you won’t turn your life around if you’re not focused on improving yourself. By improving your standards, shifts your mindset towards an unwillingness to settle in your current situation. For instance, you feel stuck and lost in life. Rather than accepting this, you improve yourself by finding your purpose, no matter how hard it may be.

3. Accepting Failure

Many people fear failure, but a successful person embraces it. You can’t accomplish your goals successfully without first experiencing failure. For instance, you started your own business and your first few weeks didn’t profit. You can take this as an opportunity to do something different in your business.

4. Stop Caring What Others Think

You can’t seek validation or approval from other people otherwise, you’ll never have that sense of fulfillment or purpose in life. This means you base your life on your own terms only and nobody else’s. For instance, you want to go for a career in photography, but your parents want you to take the business. This is an example of living your life by somebody else’s terms.

5. Accept Discomfort

It’s normal to feel uncomfortable when going after your goals. Don’t be afraid of this feeling, embrace it as a sign that you’re doing something right. For example, you feel discomfort as you’re progressing in your career- embrace this.

6. Take Initiative

One of the best qualities you can have is initiative; this will guide you to success. In fact, having initiative will be beneficial to you in helping you avoid the wrong path. Using the example above, you’d like to advance in your career, taking initiative is your first step.

7. Set Tangible Goals

You need to set concrete goals if you want fulfillment and drive life under your control.

If you flow with whatever comes, don’t expect tangible results. For instance, by setting the goal that you’ll find a job within the next 6 months, you’ve set a concrete goal of what you want to achieve.

In conclusion, I hope this article has shed light on gaining control and finally taking charge of your life. While it’s a challenge at first, the road to self-improvement is always worth it.

It’s time to take charge of your life. Leave us a comment below on how will you implement these tips.

Want Your Life to Change? Here’s How You Can Do It

0

Are you one of those people able to plan out the direction you want in your life, amazingly? Besides that, you’re a fast learner compared to the average person.

But still unable to advance, due to the lack of action.

Everything is so clear in your head, but you can’t execute them consistently, you procrastinate.

If everything mentioned above sounds familiar to you and you can relate. I think your fundamental problem here is that you are not a doer but a thinker. Now, being a thinker is not a bad thing as it shows that you are intelligent.

However, no matter how good your ideas are, without action, it means nothing, and action is the key to changing your life. Without change, your life remains the same.

In this article, I’ve provided 6 things that you can start doing right now when changing your life.

1. You’ll Never Get 100% Of Information You’d Like

A lot of times we confuse research or seeking more information with taking action. Researching can disguise itself as taking action; but I’m here to tell you it’s procrastination.

Often we try to learn everything on an idea/subject, which is impossible to do. We live in an environment where change happens quickly. The information you get today may not be usable in the next few months.

So, you’ll remain in a constant loop of seeking additional information. While it’s important to research, don’t waste your time.

For example, let’s say you want to learn how to edit videos and make a career as a video editor. So, you spend your time learning all there is to know about video editing.

However, you’ll find that as new technology emerges, your skills may become obsolete, put your newfound skills into action immediately and adapt as the environment changes.

2. Set A Deadline

There is a reason schools and workplaces have deadlines. It’s so that things get done and to keep students and employees accountable for their actions.

An example of this is a college student. No matter how lazy a student is, somehow he/she will meet their assignment’s deadline.

Whether they procrastinate, it doesn’t matter, as the deadline hits they must complete their assignment.

3. Visualize Success

Visualizing success is also very important when you are looking to make a change. Although some people believe that change is open-ended, I believe that If you don’t understand what you want, you cannot change your life.

Visualizing is single-handedly one of the most important ways to get an idea of what you want to achieve. How is this done? By picturing the change you want, a vision board can be helpful with this process.

Another important tip is to visualize your failures, it adds a sense of reality to your vision.

For example, your lifelong dream is to play for the NFL as a wide receiver. This would mean understanding the playbook, teamwork, good health, daily training, dieting, injuries, public scrutiny, etc. Visualize how you can get there and what your life would look like. Do you still want it?

Grab a pen and paper and visualize your life.

4. Thinking Is More Exhausting Than Doing

Even though many believe doing is much harder than thinking, I believe they are both challenging; with doing being more rewarding. I’ve noticed that after completing something I’ve avoided doing, it seems both rewarding and much easier than I’d expected.

You’ll find that when you move forward with action; you’ll be right more often than not.

Formalizing your thoughts is important, as it helps you to take action. Take a step forward and test your  thinking by ”doing”.

5. Take Small Steps

Although taking small steps may sound counterproductive, as you want to make progress as fast as possible. It’s important to see the change you’re making. Trying to change everything will only lead to  unfulfillment and feeling burnt out.

The beginning stages of change are uncomfortable. So, enjoy the process by taking things one step at a time, make small daily changes and it will slowly add up.

For example, let’s say you want to start a cooking business, mastering both the business aspect and learning and/or working on your craft at the same time is exhausting. Instead, prioritize the one that is important and as you master it, move the next one.

6. Say ”NO” To Instant Gratification

Instant gratification is perhaps the most important point on this list. If you’re unable to reject instant gratification; the points mentioned above will not work.

Instant gratification is a trap most fall into. You feel good in the short-term with regret in the long-term. People choose instant gratification because they want to feel good without having to put in the work.

However, instant gratification only leads to you wasting your time, which causes you to stagnate. Instead, you want to put in the work now (take action), so you can benefit later.

For example, if you want to build a fit body, understand that it will take a lot of time and effort to do so. This means going to the gym 3 to 5 times per week with drastic changes to your diet. However, in the long run, you will have built the body that you’ve always wanted; but through the process you will have learned the ins and outs of dieting and exercising. You might start your own health and fitness program to help others.

As opposed to taking steroids which will give you the body that you want faster but may cause a lot of complications over the long run.

Conclusion

So the key takeaway here is to understand the difference between planning and taking action.

At a certain point planning will no longer be beneficial, as it turns into procrastination and stagnation.

Action is progress.

Just to refresh your mind here is a quick summary of the points mentioned above:

  • Decrease your research, as it is impossible to know everything; just start doing.
  • Be accountable and set deadlines.
  • Strengthen taking action by visualization.
  • The more you think, the less action you will take.
  • Do not overload yourself, take it one step at a time.
  • Avoid instant gratification and think long term.

Review these points, apply and start taking action.

Solving Financial Challenges: 8 Poor Habits You Need to Remove

0

Let’s face it.

There are those who are lucky enough to experience abundance in the financial aspect.

However, we are not one of them.

Like many people out there, we struggle with the same challenges with finances, trying our best to enjoy financial security. It may be hard to accept, but the cause of every financial trouble is our poor financial habits. Truth be told, handling money well requires good habits. It’s true for those who experience financial stability, which means we can too.

Below are some poor financial habits many of us are guilty of. Look and see if there’s one or two you are familiar with.

*Failure to consistently save money

While saving money can be satisfying to imagine, it’s also that one aspect where we fail a lot. This happens because we don’t know where our money goes. The best thing to do to solve this is to keep track of our money. Try making a budget. This will help you understand how to handle and save money.

*Excessive Spending

Most of us are spending more than what we can afford. Try to incorporate budgeting into your daily life. Through this, you’ll be able to keep a list of all your expenses, removing what you can’t afford.

*Excessive use of credit cards and other forms of debt

While credit cards provide a convenient way to spend, it also invites debt. Credit card companies create promos and offers to lure us into further spending. As much as possible, use cash as an alternative.

*Ignoring your bills

Ignoring our bills won’t make it go away. Challenge yourself to reduce your bills, or at least the amount you pay on them. Saving electricity consumption or choosing a low-plan phone will make a big difference.

*Regularly paying penalties, fees, and excessive interest

If fees, penalties, and interest regularly take a toll on your budget, then it’s a problem that needs an immediate solution. Try as much as possible, to pay minimal or zero interest, and to settle payments on time to avoid penalties.

*Raiding your savings, investments, and retirement accounts

Your savings, investments, and retirement accounts shouldn’t be your last resort for spending. If you struggle with finding money to pay your debts, these shouldn’t be on your list of go-to.

*No budget

Having no budget means you can’t buy anything aside from your necessities, so you need to stop spending if it comes to this. A budget is important because it reduces guesswork and allows you to plan for future expenses.

*Eating out excessively

Satisfying your regular cravings won’t serve you well. It is okay to reward yourself by eating out from time to time, but doing it almost every time will hurt your finances. Try making your meals. You’d be surprised at how much you’ll save with this.

Final thoughts

Do you find yourself guilty of these habits? If you do, then like me, you need to do something about it.

With every financial challenge we face, there’s a side of us that will dive into these poor financial habits. For starters, it’s important to remember that there is a solution to every problem.

This may not happen overnight, but through patience and willingness, satisfying financial stability lies.
